Supertanker seized by pirates: negotiators on the spot

Pirates who seized a supertanker Saudi containing two million barrels of oil in the open Indian Ocean last Saturday finally asking for a ransom. Hackers want the cash to release the huge ship and its 25 crew members. Negotiators are currently on board the Sirius Star, which is currently anchored near Harardhere. When the negotiators have given their approval for ransom, it will be given to oil, as was claimed by one of the hijackers on Al Jazeera. The amount of the ransom was not known. Remember that these pirates have seized Sirius Star, a supertanker doing three times the size of a U.S. aircraft carrier and its precious cargo of black gold in the open Indian Ocean, a booty that would be at least $ 100 million . In addition to the two million barrels of oil and supertanker itself, the pirates held the 25 crew members. These would be in good health according to the company that operates the Sirius Star, the Vela International Marine Ltd. The boat is owned by oil giant Saudi Aramco. The Sirius Star has been put into service recently, in March 2008. Le Figaro also reported that since the attack on the tanker Saturday, the offensive pirates near Somalia have increased at least three other boats were seized. As against during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the Indian Navy has managed to thwart an attack in the Gulf of Aden. The website of the British newspaper The Guardian offers a video summarizing the current situation and also disseminates reports on the issue of piracy, including one on British prisoners of Sirius Star.
